About the houses

A family that kept opening the door.

Founded in 2015, High Desert is still run by the people who live this work — not a distant office.

The warmth of a family atmosphere, with exceptional care.

High Desert Assisted Living is where residents, staff, and owners alike are treasured members of our tight-knit family. Individual rooms are designed to champion independence. We want everyone to feel right at home — not placed somewhere, but welcomed.

The involvement of family and friends is not just encouraged; it is the core of our ethos. Complementing that family-feel, we serve delicious home-cooked meals so every resident feels cherished, nourished, and valued.

Our vision

Mental health, first and always.

Our vision is clear: to prioritize and uplift the mental health of each resident. By diligently overseeing their healthcare and creating an atmosphere of safety, care, and love, we make this vision a reality each day. We believe in the power of autonomy and the joy of connection — encouraging independence while making room for meaningful socialization.

Jason & Laura Cheney

Mesa County echoes with the spirited joy from the Cheney household, where Jason and Laura have their hands and hearts full with five children — four of their own and one cherished adopted soul. Beyond their immediate family, they have opened their doors and hearts to foster children since they set roots here.

Jason, with his ties to the Department of Human Services, has been a cornerstone for many as a professional counselor. Laura, with her boundless heart, has taken on numerous roles in public service over the years. At High Desert Assisted Living, their love story envelops all. Residents aren’t just occupants; they’re family. Swing by, and you’ll feel it too.
